Opposition leader Sali Berisha held his first meeting outside Albania after the official opening of the electoral campaign in Tirana, choosing the city of Brescia in Italy as his first stop. In a hall filled with Albanians from the diaspora, Berisha expressed his gratitude and utmost respect for the sacrifices and success of Albanians living and working abroad.
"I thank you for this magnificent reception. You Albanians of the diaspora are our inspiration in this historic campaign. The year 2025 is your year, the year of the Albanian Diaspora, the year of victory over dictatorship, crime and theft," said Berisha.
He emphasized that the reason he launched the campaign precisely from the diaspora is because Albanian immigrants best represent the invincible spirit of the nation. "You are the Albanians of sacrifice and success. You came to Italy as victims of a brutal regime, but with effort and dignity you have built an honest and successful life," he said.
In his speech, Berisha did not forget to thank his Italian friends, praising the hospitality and solidarity of the Italian people towards Albanians over the years. "A big thank you to the Italian nation. Viva Italia!", he said amid applause.
He added that Albanian immigrants are today a vital part of the Italian economy and an example of pride for Albania. “You never forgot your country. Being Albanian means never giving up, having an unquenchable love for your land.”
Berisha closed his speech with a powerful message: "May God bless you and the families of Albanian immigrants wherever you are!"
The meeting in Brescia was filled with enthusiasm and a positive atmosphere, while Berisha praised this stop as a special moment of inspiration in the electoral journey towards a fairer and freer Albania. (A2 Televizion)
