The former Autotractor Factory will be revived as a military industry for the production of uniforms and the assembly of armored vehicles, artillery carriers, fire engines and ambulances. This was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the presentation of the project for its revival.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha and Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, presented today to the residents of unit no. 1, Shkozë, the new project for the construction of a high-tech plant.
"This is an extremely positive development for our Armed Forces, for our national economy and for the community here, as in the context of the rebirth of the military industry in Albania, we have a series of projects for the revival of an old infrastructure that has remained out of function, such as this structure here or the infrastructure of the Rubik industrial complex or other infrastructures in the territory of Albania, where our goal is to build a complete production network in the country for the needs of our Armed Forces, for the needs of our Police forces, for the needs of our firefighting forces, but also for export. This will make it possible, on the one hand, for the annual and significant increase in the defense budget to go to stimulate our national economy."
On the other hand, the Prime Minister emphasized that "through the creation of these new links in a production chain, new jobs should be created for technicians and high-level experts and, of course, through this process, we should also stimulate technological innovation."
Rama announced that investment in the production of clothing, military and police uniforms in our country will also begin.
"In this aspect too, we have all the possibilities to make very high quality products and create jobs and supply our Armed Forces or law enforcement with very high quality and less expensive uniforms and, on the other hand, to create a production base that can also serve export production, so that in these thousands of square meters that are here, which today as we see are all out of any function, we will create a space where there will be work, there will be economy and there will be development."
Meanwhile, Minister Hoxha stated that this project will open new jobs as well as development for the area.
"This project includes a serious investment in modern and innovative technology for the production of military vehicles and high-quality uniforms for the Armed Forces and the State Police, which comes as a result of cooperation between the state-owned company Kajo and the company Timak. This is an important economic investment for the entire country, but for Unit 1, this is a transformative project, which will bring development and open jobs, not only in specialized positions, but also in support services, creating a development pole for the unit and creating a better future for many families in this area," said Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha.
Following this, Prime Minister Rama spoke with residents regarding various issues and problems raised by them. (A2 Televizion)
