EPP Congress/ Berisha "takes" Rama to Valencia: He has turned Albania into a narco-dictatorship, the elections are a farce

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, delivered a harsh speech at the European People's Party (EPP) Congress in Valencia, where he accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of turning Albania into a narco-state and establishing a dictatorial regime.

Berisha thanked the leaders of the EPP, as well as the presidents of the IDU and CDI for their support for the Democratic Party and its causes. He also appreciated the support of the DP's friends from the CDU and Forza Italia.

In his speech, Berisha declared that " Albania today is the first and only narco-state in Europe, where all power is in the hands of a single man ." According to him, Prime Minister Rama has created a mafia-style vote-buying industry and turned the elections into a farce.

Berisha accused the prime minister of controlling the economy, the media and blocking platforms like TikTok to suppress critical voices. He added that Rama has arrested opposition leaders without evidence and stripped their mandates, citing the case of Fredi Beleri.

Berisha also said from the podium at the PPE congress that Rama has bribed former FBI official Charles McGonigal to act against the Albanian opposition and that documents from partner countries show that crime and the state have become one.

" He has an advisor in his office who coordinates with criminal organizations, from the Sinaloa cartels to local gangs ," Berisha said.

Referring to Eurostat data, he said that over 1 million Albanians have emigrated in the last decade, while the country is facing the lowest birth rate in the world and has become a major exporter of crime.

In the end, Berisha focused on the May 11 elections, accusing Rama of blocking television debates, distributing money to buy votes, and issuing licenses for cannabis cultivation in the interest of the campaign.

" In a dictatorship, the only option is not to surrender, but to fight to overthrow it ," he concluded, expressing confidence that the Democratic Party will succeed in overthrowing this regime. (A2 Televizion)
