Albania and Kosovo convene today two Assemblies in Pristina. 130 deputies, including the two prime ministers Edi Rama and Albin Kurti, will gather in the Assembly of Kosovo at 11:00.
The meeting of the two assemblies, according to the institutions on both sides of the border, comes as a need to coordinate the agenda for the realization of goals that include Albania's membership in the European Union and Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic integrations. Also for the protection and advancement of the rights of Albanians, democratization and peace and security in the region.
The first to speak will be the speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, then the speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, to continue with the heads of the parliamentary groups of the two countries. The last to speak will be the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and then the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
60 deputies will participate from Albania. The list of the Democratic Party lacks the chairman Sali Berisha, but also Lulzim Basha who has already parted ways with the party he led before.
This is the second time that Albania and Kosovo organize a joint meeting of the two Assemblies. For the first time, the two Assemblies held a meeting on November 27, 2022, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of independence.
But there is not much expectation from this session, however the two states remain connected to each other regardless of the daily politics. The only place where the executive of Pristina and the executive of Tirana are accountable are their parliaments. The parliaments of Kosovo and Albania are powerless in front of the prime ministers, therefore in this case the meeting is seen as a missed meeting, on the other hand, a kind of backlash in front of what the Serbs are doing in the "Serbian world" who held a joint meeting of parliamentarians of the Serbian Republic of Belgrade and the Montenegrin Serbs.
