Kleana Xhuveli, cousin of Adratik Lapaj, will be the representative of the Albania Initiative coalition in parliament. Ilirjan Celibashi, in a meeting that lasted almost 4 hours, decided not to accept the resignations from the candidacy of the members of the closed list, thus rejecting the claims of the coalition representatives that the resignations were silently approved.
"As long as the CEC has not made a decision to reject or accept the resignations, they are considered tacitly approved and we have requested confirmation of the tacit approval. Zeqiri recanted on July 15, after this deadline," said Dorina Prethi, legal representative of Shqipëria Bëhet.
"Your claim that the candidates on the closed list and the resignation have been accepted is unfounded," said the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi.
According to representatives of "Initiative - Albania Becomes", the candidates on the closed list have expressed their agreement not to receive the mandate, but Celibashi recognized the two revocations made by candidates Zeqir Kordhoni and Kleana Xhuveli, giving the mandate to the latter.
"In this specific case, Klena Xhuveli has stated that she wants to take the mandate, if this is the case, so has Zerqir Kordhoni, but given that Klena is listed on the closed list of this coalition above, I believe that she has the right to take the mandate of the deputy of this coalition as long as she has an interest in this," said Celibashi.
Kleana Xhuveli herself closely followed this meeting, and in a statement to the media, she claimed that she did not want to take the mandate and warned that the battle to bring Lapaj to the Adriatic Assembly will continue.
"I am an activist of the Albania Becomes Movement. I did not enter the race to go to the Assembly, but as a guarantee that the closed lists would be burned, I want to emphasize that I will worthily represent the mandate of 80 thousand Albanians, until the day when the battle returns it to the most voted man on our list, Adriatik Lapaj," declared Kleana Xhuveli.
The Chief Commissioner also distributed the other 36 mandates of the Tirana district among other political forces. Celibashi recognized the 12 resignations from the mandate of candidates from the closed list of the Social Democratic Party and gave the mandate to Tedi Mula, the first most voted from the open list.
