Endrit Shabani has responded to Adriatik Lapaj, who today invited him to give up his mandate as an MP in the Tirana District, and let the most voted woman on the open list of the "Albania Initiative" coalition, which competed in the May 11 elections, take it.
"I am neither an MP nor do I want to be an MP anymore. The Adriatic knows this and everyone who needs to know knows it, verbally and in writing. Therefore, do not drag me into a dance that should end as soon as possible," said Shabani, writes A2.
Endrit Shabani's post:
A response to today's statement by Mr. Adriatik Lapaj
Repeatedly and unfortunately to the shame of the "new politics", I have been called to a public duel with unequal means by Adriatik Lapaj.
I emphasize "by unequal means" because slander, lies, fabrication of the truth are tools that have a certain superiority over those who do not know and do not want to use them.
Adriatik Lapaj is slandering me, lying about me, and trying to fabricate his own truth, trying to come out of a mess he made himself.
I have not had, do not have and have no reason or intention to have any intention to prevent Adriatikun from entering Parliament.
I have made it clear publicly and privately with him that for me he, or anyone else he wants (including Greta Ambel or Kleana Xhuveli), can go and take the mandate.
On the other hand, I have also made it clear to Adriatiku that I cannot convince my uncle to forget the threats to his life, or the public and media violence inspired, if not ordered, by Adriatiku.
Before it turned to violence and threats, Adriatiku is a witness that I sat down with him to ask my uncle to clear the way for him, and we were unsuccessful.
I am not Zeqiri and I do not want to be his lawyer, but neither I nor Adriatiku have any arguments to convince him not to hold Adriatiku accountable for his word.
When we spoke with Zeqiri, he told us bluntly that he is not a politician and takes his promises seriously. That is why he believed Adriatiku when he said that he would resign if he were the only MP.
The way things went, especially after the threats from people in Adriatik's party, he feels even more convinced that he should not give in to pressure, because according to him, Adriatik is a liar like any old politician.
What I don't understand is why Adriatik wants to make me responsible for the individual decisions of someone who, yes, is my relative, but has his own head, when Adriatik himself does not even bear responsibility for his family members who threaten in his name.
I believe, just like Adriatiku, that he is not responsible for his father-in-law not passing Vetting. But it is not my problem if he believes that someone else's responsibility is mine – and that has no place to stand!
I regret that a young leader like Adriatiku does not take any responsibility for this political theater with family members, which he suggested to us as a “genius find”. This extra-legal trick was undoubtedly risky, because it depended on the will of those who agreed to be used as “placeholders”. That is why it had to be managed very carefully.
However, I would like this absurdity to end. And personally, together with those family members who think like me, I have opened my arms without any problem.
Adriatiku's sister is becoming an MP today only because my closest person has agreed to make way for her.
As for Adriatiku, I would ask him not to ask me about his uncle, because moreover, as ridiculous as it may seem, he asked my uncle to include him on the list at the last minute, when he could not find candidates to fill the lists.
I have nothing to do with this story.
I am neither an MP nor do I want to be an MP anymore.
The Adriatic knows this and so do all those who need to know, both orally and in writing.
Therefore, do not drag me into a dance that must end as soon as possible. Not for me, but to save at least a little from the already scratched face of the "new politics"! (A2 Televizion)
