Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, presented today in Parliament the changes to the 2025 budget.

According to him, this act aims to ensure efficiency in the use of public funds, without changing the main macro-fiscal indicators.

"The budget review foresees internal reallocations of around 11.8 billion lek, supporting state capacities for cybersecurity, infrastructure projects and investments in sports, justice and health," Malaj declared, writes A2 CNN.

At the same time, he announced, a new Sovereign Guarantee scheme for the agricultural sector, worth 3 billion lek, is being approved, which will facilitate access to loans with favorable terms for farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Revenues for the period January-May 2025 reached 305.92 billion lek, 6.5% more than in the same period in 2024, while total expenditures were 267.1 billion lek, 12.8% higher than in 2024. The budget surplus was 39.1 billion lek, 22.4% lower than last year.

Malaj said that an economic growth of 3.9% is forecast for 2025, supported by family consumption, investments and tourism performance, writes A2 CNN.

The public investment program, he said, aims to improve infrastructure and competitiveness, with a focus on renewable energy, tourism and technology.
