"The government has hindered integration, not the opposition", Tabaku:

"The opposition has never abandoned the integration process, but the parliament has overlooked national interests by serving very small party and business interests." This is what Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku said in the last parliamentary session of this legislature, while discussing the annual report of the National Integration Council for 2024.

"In this legislature, we have failed to rise above the trenches and political interests that the majority had with every law debated in the Committees. We have failed to give Albanians a comprehensive process, a process locked away in government drawers, which brings nothing to Albanians. Integration on paper alone serves no one. "

In her speech, Tabaku accused the government as the main obstacle to the country's integration into the EU.

"The only blockage that has come to Albanians has come from the government due to the inability, first of all, to organize democratic processes with European standards and ending with normal issues of the functioning of a state, public procurement, violation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with competitions without tenders and ending with agriculture, where we still have the letter from the Danish presidency for the opening of group chapters that Albania "excelled" with the implementation of IPARD funds and stained it with the largest theft of EU funds outside the EU", said Tabaku.

According to Tabaku, Parliament has lost the notion of carrying out a legislative process.

"26 institutions are closing this legislature without reporting like never before. The report mentions the inability of the Assembly to implement the decisions of the Constitutional Court. This assembly is ending the legislature even without comprehensive electoral reform. In the last 12 years, especially the last year, it has failed to deal with the review of the distribution of mandates in the districts. Full diaspora voting, as it is Albania's responsibility to carry out, which has opened negotiations, was carried out with a great stain and the depoliticization of the electoral administration. It failed to carry out these tasks. Every day more and more we see how independent institutions lose their notion of independence, how parliamentary committees are unable to carry out their work because they have become extensions of the government. For the first time, this legislature is closing without any resolution on integration, the opposition has never yielded to carry out its duties, has not created obstacles, it has not been mentioned in the reports for obstruction in this process."
