The Head of the State Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, has made a statement to the media, now that 24 hours have passed since the closing of the voting process and the start of the vote counting.
Celibashi indicated that the vote counting process for subjects in 22 municipalities has been completed and listed the CEAZs where problems were encountered.
"The counting process for 22 municipalities has been completed. There are 24 CEAZs out of 93 that have completed the process and have decided that due to fatigue they will start tomorrow with votes for the open list candidates. We had an interruption in two CEAZs in Fier, with our intervention the work has resumed. In 2 CEAZs in Pustec and Devoll the process has also been completed for the candidates", said the chief commissioner.
Celibashi also spoke about the slow pace of vote counting, which he attributed to tired counters. For this reason, he asked the subjects to bring additional members to the CEAZ in shifts, as delays will not be tolerated.
"In general, the process has gone well, but we have problems with the normal progress. This progress is conditioned by the fatigue of the counters. Some of them have also been commissioners during the voting process. I call on political parties to take measures to change the members of the counting groups. They know the people who have proposed and to build a system with turns. We have made this communication", said the head of the CEC.
The chief commissioner also acknowledged delays in administering diaspora votes, due to the processing of documentation.
"13,946 envelopes out of 194,000 diaspora votes have been counted. The evaluation of the documentation of voters from abroad is taking time, due to processing. Yesterday we lost time due to debates about votes from Greece. The process went slowly as it was a new experience," said Celibashi.
