Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania is no longer a country in transition, but only a few steps away from full membership in the European Union, writes A2 CNN.
"Albania is a success story. It is unfortunate that there are people who, just because they don't like the government, that there is nothing wrong with not liking the government, don't accept this. But fortunately the majority understands this," Rama said after inspecting the works for the reconstructed dormitories in Student City.
"Albania is no longer in transition. It is just a few steps away from entering the European Union with full rights. And in this city today you can physically see how it was built and it is visible, tangible, livable, the future, and how the past continues to be present through a series of uglinesses, which need to be addressed and replaced. These uglinesses are physical and also part of the institutional life of the country, in the form of corruption or all those things that we have addressed and are continuing to address like no other. And just as this entire city will be a destination where nothing will leave you with the bad taste of the past, so will our country be when we take these few steps, when we will not just be a country in Europe, but a country with full rights within the European Union", he added.
