Albania has today a historic opportunity to be equal among equals in Europe. This is how Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to one of his followers in the "Sy m'sy" column, who was looking for a program for returning to Albania. According to Rama, Albanians cannot miss the chance of EU membership.
"The hour did not remain on my European passport, but the hour of our country's history has been linked to the inability to be equal among equals on this continent where we have the blessing of being in the heart of Europe and where this heart of Europe, Albania, has had a hole where Albanians have suffered and been humiliated historically. And today the hour of our history has a historic opportunity. After the door has been opened because we have done our duties to the best of our ability, but they also want to let us in for reasons that are not related to us but are geopolitical and we cannot lose this chance as we have lost other opportunities in the past. This is the battle to fight so that we cannot lose this historic opportunity."
Regarding the protection of the Albanian language, Rama said that his government has introduced it to a level of study that did not exist.
"The Albanian language must definitely be protected and we will do a lot of work in schools. You know that the Albanian language was removed from the curriculum and we are introducing it to a level of study that no longer existed."
While to those who told him that he is not interested in EU membership and that he is dealing with the swamp owl, Rama replied that you keep him at the head of the opposition, while accusing Berisha of holding hostage a political force that was born as hope and today is a swamp.
"It is holding hostage an entire political force that was born as hope and today is a swamp. If I didn't want it in the EU, I wouldn't waste a second of my life, and not anymore dealing with the blind and deaf from the noise of qua-qua-qua that they are affected because I deal with the owl. In fact, I don't deal with it, but you who still keep it there. I simply state what the majority of Albanians see, that at the head of the so-called opposition is a swamp owl and that the opposition is all a collection of creatures in a large political and media swamp."
