A few minutes after State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi announced the decision to open the envelopes with the votes received from Greece, the counting was suspended. A2 CNN reports that the reasons for the suspension are not yet known, but their counting will continue the next day at 8:30.
A little while ago, Celibashi made the decision to count the ballot envelopes received from the Albanian diaspora in Greece.
This decision was made after the process was blocked, at the request of the DP accepted by the CEC chairman and strong reactions from the majority that the law and the Electoral Code were being violated. Today (May 16), Celibashi announced the decision, accepting the request to continue the counting.
Meanwhile, the counting of all other votes received from the diaspora has been completed.
