In an official ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office, Albania and the Government of the United Kingdom signed an agreement to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in the field of defense. The signing took place in the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama, First Minister Sir Keir Starmer, the Minister of Defense of Albania, Mr. Pirro Vengu, and senior representatives of the two governments.
This declaration represents an important step towards deepening the strategic relations between the two countries and aims to strengthen defense capabilities and develop the defense industry.
Albania and the United Kingdom, through this agreement, express their common will to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense equipment production, investment and industrial relations, with the aim of increasing national security and promoting technological innovation, and developing partnerships with British manufacturers for the production of military equipment and other capabilities, including ground-based air defense and anti-drone systems.
Also through this agreement, the parties express interest in exploring opportunities for joint exports of defense equipment to third countries, of strategic interest, and creating a basis for joint training and cooperation between the Armed Forces of both countries.
This agreement does not constitute a financial or legally binding commitment for either party, but lays the foundation for further cooperation through specific agreements, in accordance with relevant legislation and international commitments.
