The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, hosted his Slovak counterpart, Peter Pellegrini, at an official ceremony at the Presidency this Friday.
This visit is historic, as it is the first time a Slovak president has visited Tirana.
The two presidents then held a joint press conference, where Pellegrini said that Albania and Slovakia will strengthen cooperation in the field of security and defense.
"Today's visit is a historic milestone for the relations between our two countries, it is the first time that a Slovak president visits your country. We have sincere relations on defense, related to NATO membership. Because of this visit, we will increase and strengthen cooperation. I am very pleased that we are continuing with scholarships for Albanian students in Slovakia and we expect them to grow even more," said the Slovak President.
Pellegrini further added that Albania is a new tourist destination for Slovak citizens and the numbers are growing year after year. The Slovak President openly expressed support for Albania's EU membership, saying: " Without EU enlargement, including the Western Balkans, the Union will not be complete ."
" We will be your allies for integration and a strong advocate for you on this path. Albania has made great progress and we appreciate the reforms and improvements in all areas ," Pellegrini underlined. (A2 Televizion)
