"The economy drove away Albanians", Berisha to businessmen: We will do

The Albania of the last three years is the Albania of dramatic decline in production. This was stated by the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a meeting with businessmen. According to him, under the socialist government, agricultural production marked a dramatic decline, as did exports.

"Albania, from one semester to the next, industrial production falls. Exports from 2023-2024 have decreased by 32 percent, this is official statistics. Exports from one month to the next of this year continue to fall. Agricultural production marked a dramatic decline. So, we are moving towards an economy that is today supported by two main pillars. It is supported by construction and, in one way or another, by tourism. But history has proven that even the most powerful economies on the planet, when they have been supported by two pillars, have known very deep crises."

For this reason, said Berisha, the DP has declared Made in Albania, national production, as national pride. According to him, the main pillar of the program is the economy.

"I guarantee you and all entrepreneurs that we will do everything to ensure that this country produces as much as possible, with the highest quality and with the highest competitiveness. We have declared and are convinced that the alpha and omega of our program must be the economy, the economy, the economy. This terrible hole that is being created in this country by the massive departure of Albanians is based on the economy, the economy, the economy."

The second powerful sector, according to Berisha, in which Albania has great potential is tourism. However, according to him, it is not being properly utilized.

"But the government's estimate, 10 million tourists with 7 million overnight stays, shows that in this sector, if we compare it with Montenegro, which receives 2.7 million tourists per year, we have an informality of 80 percent. This informality is directly reflected in the ordinary citizen, because the ordinary citizen benefits from sales in this sector in total 7-8 million euros in the state budget, at a time when this citizen spends 430 million euros on this sector every year."
