MEP Aleksandër Spasov has stated that Albania's progress on the path to membership in the European Union is the best compared to other Western Balkan countries.
Spasov made the comments while he was invited to 'Weekend Diary' with journalist Erion Dushi on A2 CNN, where he said he was confident in the integration of Albania, but also of other countries in the region, by 2030.
He also said that North Macedonia had somewhat stalled on the path of negotiations, due to some changes that needed to be implemented regarding the Bulgarian minority in the country.
Spasov added that the citizens of Albania, but also of other countries in the region, need to see concrete reforms in order to continue supporting the path towards the European Union.
"Unfortunately, North Macedonia still has some tasks to implement, also proposed by the French Presidency. Some changes in legislation and the Constitution regarding the Bulgarian minority in our country. I hope that this process will move forward in the future and we will move towards the EU."
As for Albania, I think it is on the right track. I see the progress on this journey as very positive and rapid. This is something that makes me happy and I hope it continues to be so.
"Personally, I am convinced that most of the countries from our Western Balkan region will have the opportunity to join the EU together by 2030. But we need to work more with concrete steps and reforms towards the EU path. People need concrete reforms to support the path towards the EU," Spasov said, writes A2 CNN.
