In addition to civil disobedience on several roads in the country, mainly in Tirana, a protest was also held in front of the Albanian embassy in London. "It is representative of our state and the only place where we can give our message directly," Taulant Omi, one of its organizers, told A2 CNN.
"It was organized by the diaspora in general in cooperation between Mr. Ilir Meshi and me," said Omi. "Ilir Meshi is the person who was raped and hospitalized in the previous protest. We thought of organizing the protest at the same time, to represent the entire diaspora, not for any political party".
Asked why the protest is being held, Omi said: "We ask for the same things as in Albania, for the government to allow elections through a technical government, to increase pensions, the economy and the possibility of stopping the departure of the Albanian population by creating the conditions to have their lives in Albania as the channel (of the English Channel) is being filled every day with young Albanians, risking their lives".
Omi and the other organizer Meshi stated that the protest is not exclusively in support of DP. "I myself am a democrat, but we have invited anyone who is in opposition to the government," said Omi. "If tomorrow they start a protest "Albania becomes" we will still organize to support them". (A2 Televizion)
