Prime Minister Edi Rama hosted an iftar this evening in Tirana during the holy month of Ramadan, while also issuing strong statements in his speech.
Among other things, he stated that Albania's Muslims are not a problem, but rather an added value for being new members of the EU.
"Europe today needs as many loyal citizens and partners of the Islamic faith as possible, such as Albanian Muslims, but also for the 5 pillars of its wisdom to recover internationally and strengthen its geopolitical security," said Rama.
He went even further, saying that Europe today needs Turkey and allies in the Middle East, as well as the countries of the Western Balkans.
"In its diminished strategic profile, Europe needs Turkey and other Middle Eastern allies more today than Turkey and its Middle Eastern allies need Europe today."
For the same reasons, the EU needs the Balkan states and their partially Muslim and fully and fundamentally European peoples today, just as much as we need the EU," Rama said. (A2 Televizion)
