For more than a month, Prime Minister Edi Rama has referred to his political opponent, Sali Berisha, with the label "swamp owl", but until now the leading democrat had not provided a response.
To show that he is not offended at all, the opposition leader appeared at a press conference with journalists, placing a statue of an owl on the table - a symbol, according to him, of wisdom and knowledge since ancient times, writes A2 CNN.
"I decided to bring it here before the media and the Albanian public to show what cultural poverty and desertion the man who quotes and calls Sali Berisha every day by the name of the most accomplished symbol of knowledge, wisdom and decision-making in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome has," Berisha said.
While giving a full explanation of the symbolism of the owl, he said he is not surprised that the Prime Minister is unaware that it is the favorite symbol of the goddesses Athena and Minerva. "Edi Rama thinks he can insult me by calling me an owl. Ignorance is not an argument, says Latini," he said.
At the press conference, Berisha also presented the campaign logo for the May 11 elections, calling the ranking at the top of the ballot a blessing. "There is no greater gift than this. Those who vote for the Democratic Party and the Greater Albania Alliance vote 1st. De facto, they are 1st."
Sali Berisha is expected to have an international campaign, after confirming that at the end of April he will participate in the congress of the European People's Parties. "I will give a speech, the time has been set for me, I have been given the opportunity to speak and I will keep my word. It is a very big event for the life of the People's Party and the Democratic Party. I am honored to go and present Albania, the truth as Albania has it."
There was also a comment on the hearing that is expected to take place in the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee for the May 11 elections. According to Berisha, this is a major event and a great support for the free vote. (A2 Televizion)
