Prime Minister Edi Rama responded harshly to social media commentators who asked him to resign because "half of the government" is in prison, writes A2 CNN. Rama said that it was the Socialist Party that made independent justice possible and that ministers or former ministers who have ended up in prison are no reason for him to resign.
"The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, had January 21 on his desk when he was in the regular prosecutor's office. He had the opportunity to fight corruption even then. Do you know if he fought against corruption? No, because it was impossible, for him and everyone else, because justice was being thwarted," said Rama.
"Today, justice, whether you like it or not, has been liberated from the control of political power by the political force that I have the privilege of leading. And it has been liberated to wage war without compromise, left and right. We have been in power for 12 years, you say half of the government... Which resignation do you demand? Mine? But for what reason?" (A2 Televizion)
