Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the passing of Pope Francis this morning. Through a Facebook post, the head of government said: "Farewell, Holy Father, great and unforgettable friend of Albania."
Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88.
"At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, has returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of God and the Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest," Cardinal Kevin Farrell said in the announcement of Pope Francis' passing, A2 writes.
A few weeks ago, Pope Francis left a hospital in Rome after being treated for pneumonia in both lungs.
Two weeks after leaving the hospital, Pope Francis appeared before the faithful in St. Peter's Square.
In 2013, Francis became the first Latin American Pope and has been one of the longest-serving popes in the history of the Church.
