The journey from Shëngjin to Velipojë can now be made via the newly completed road, which runs along the coast. Prime Minister Edi Rama described this road axis as an opportunity to increase the number of tourists in the entire area, having a significant impact on the local and national economy.
"The completion of this new road is truly a moment of relief, because with this new road we reveal to Albanians, but also to tourists, a magical part of Albania that was inaccessible until yesterday. We definitely strengthen support for the entire local economy of Shkodra and Lezha. There is no doubt that this will bring additional income to our national economy," said Rama.
In the presence of the mayors of Shkodra and Lezha, as well as tour operators of the two cities, the head of the Albanian government promised support for other infrastructure projects.
"The Shëngjin bypass... the Tale road... The mistakes that have been allowed to date by the local and central governments on the coast must end. We must build with European standards along the Adriatic coast," said Rama.
He reminded the hotel structures of the agreement on the correct declaration of occupied beds during the tourist season. "This is one of the most beautiful areas in Europe. It deserves development with the highest standards. 65% of the nights are realized during the summer and 35% in the winter," said Rama.
The Prime Minister also reminded other businesses of the fiscal peace initiative, which avoids the intervention of state authorities and tax controls.
The failure to implement the project for the construction of the bridge over the Buna River, which would connect Shkodra with Ulcinj, was justified by the Prime Minister with the bureaucracies of Montenegro.
