Sali Berisha, in today's media appearance, reacted to the news published yesterday by American journalist Marc Caputo, who, referring to the US State Department, said that the leader of the Democratic Party can travel freely to the US.
" We regularly grant exemptions to facilitate travel for certain individuals to the United States, consistent with our international obligations and our national interests. As such, we will not allow our foreign policy interests or relations with Albania to be held hostage by politicized Biden-era decisions ," was the State Department's response to Caputo when asked about Berisha's visa status.
The opposition leader himself said from the blue headquarters that this DASH response shows that "the Biden administration's politicized decisions, which punished the conservative opposition, ended up the same way he signed them."

Asked by reporters later when he would travel to the US, Berisha said that he is currently in the midst of an electoral campaign and its peak days before the May 11 elections, but if he had found himself at a more appropriate time, he would have made the trip across the Atlantic.
" I learned about the decision last night, at the same time as you. I had no plans to travel and of course I cannot say that I will travel these 2-3 days because they are the peak days of the campaign.
