Edi Rama has stated that the country has only one path, that of the European Union. He made this statement at the second high-level meeting on the topic "Albania 2030 in the EU - The path of reforms".
Further, he said that Albanians are not pampered Westerners, but were born in hell, referring to the past under communism.
"We have no other choice and we do not want any other choice. We have only one choice, only one plan, which is the European Union. For us it is very clear. We are not Westerners pampered by fate. We did not grow up like those in Europe of the 70s-80s. We grew up in hell and we know very well that the EU is much more than an ATM. We know very well that the EU is the place of our salvation from our history.
We are very clear that the EU is the corner of our history that we must take. For us, this is very clear. The door that has been opened must be used as soon as possible without being closed. I am here to strongly confirm this. We believe unconditionally in this process. We know very well that the EU is not a park where you go for fun, it is a family that is not easy to be calm in, but it is a family where we can have a future that is not threatened daily by the past", said Rama.
