Tomor Alizoti, political leader of the Democratic Party in the District of Elbasan, invited to the studio of "Everybody" with Merita Haklajn, on A2 CNN, stated that Albanian politics includes criminal gangs in politics to undermine the democratic process.
"Why should a district leader deal with gangs? He is neither the chief of the police nor of the forensics department, the political leader makes politics. The voter feels the gangs, because I have never been scared of the people of crime. They are weak people who follow interest. They are just people who want to rob and to me they don't exist. It is the police and justice that is the problem here. Albania has moved to the rank of cartel from Rama's policy", declared Alizoti.
"All organized groups in Albania are at the service of politics and this is the essence of this crisis we are in. Cocaine money gives power for votes, power provides security and this destroys democracy in Albania. Citizens are intimidated with the permission of the police, they do the dirty work that has the effect of destroying democracy. In 2021, they were beaten in the presence of the prime minister, to show him how pious they are," added Alizoti.
"This type of crime, which is a cartel, already appoints high-ranking figures in the state. At this moment, the state takes on the characteristics of a narco-state," Alizoti emphasized further.
