Chief Democrat Sali Berisha confessed in the 'Debat' studio with journalist Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, how he spent 333 days under house arrest.
Berisha said that the deprivation of freedom was identical to being in prison, despite the fact that the comfort at home is greater.
He also added that while he was under house arrest, he had difficulties in communicating with the citizens, since according to the former prime minister, the political party is not just an office.
Excerpts from the studio discussion:
Q: How were the months of house arrest for you?
Berisha: A man with denied freedoms, and this was a motive of struggle for me. When the narco-dictator decided to win elections by arresting political opponents without any evidence, then the motivation is powerful, but the consequences are the test of freedom. Whether you are at home or in prison, restriction is almost identical to freedom. Because the decision was even more absurd that no communication was allowed except with close family members, which contradicted every kind of national and international law.
Q: What was the difficulty you went through?
Berisha: Communication with citizens. The party is not an office. We need a meeting with the citizens, a meeting with the structures.
