Invited to the show "Çdo kënt me Merita Haklaj" on A2 CNN, Shpëtim Idrizi, chairman of the PDIU, spoke, among other things, about the Cham issue, emphasizing that some time ago this file was taken over by lawyer Karim Khan, who is today the Prosecutor General of The Hague, but the state did not take it forward.
Now, Shpëtim Idrizi said on the show "Çdo kënt me Merita Haklaj" that he is seeking representation in the Strasbourg Court by the State Attorney for the Cham case.
"We made a very serious effort years ago and we exhausted it ourselves and not with the Albanian state, with the lawyer Karim Khan who is today the Prosecutor General of The Hague. We have worked at these levels. As you have seen, at the PDIU Congress, he handed us the entire roadmap and all the possibilities for solving the Albanian issue of Chameria, which has many dimensions, from seeking public forgiveness, to the right to return to our homes and then the last one is these property issues. You have seen it when Greece tells us, "let these people go to court". First, our grandparents, my father cannot go to Greece because they stop him at the borders. Then, we asked and will ask again, when we have a serious state, to sit down with rights, that this British studio with this prosecutor who is today the Prosecutor General of The Hague, has also been in Albania, he was precisely the one in charge of finding ways to solve the Cham issue.
We ask to be represented, at least for property issues, in the Strasbourg Court by the State Attorney and by a studio that has studied this. What does it mean to study it and why is it related to the Law of War. Since the massacre that occurred in Chameria, which began in 1923, 1944 is the last and especially the law of war, they have produced a legislation of 70 years. The legislation to take the property of the Chams is from 2006. They have continuously produced legislation. The abolition of the law of war restores all this to its original term. We are not fighting for property, but for our country and homeland", said Idrizi. (A2 Televizion)
