Journalist Lavdrim Lita has expressed that Albania could follow the model of Kosovo or other countries to implement the diaspora vote.

Lita made the comments on 'Diary' with journalist Loneta Progni on A2 CNN, where she said that the DP should have worked to improve the electoral code and not closed itself off to the secret chambers of the Parliament to make amendments to the electoral code.

He also said that the technical issues the CEC has with the diaspora vote are complicating the political parties themselves, because they want to maintain control of the process at all costs.

"It is good that the DP has these doubts about the diaspora vote. It should have worked in time to improve the electoral code and not locked itself behind the scenes and in secret chambers of the Assembly to make amendments to the electoral code to close the lists and implement a decision of the Court of Justice to materialize the diaspora vote."

The technical issues that the CEC has with the diaspora vote are being complicated by the political parties themselves, because they want to maintain control of the process at all costs, when this process could have taken the models of Kosovo or even other countries that allow the diaspora to vote.

"So electronic voting could have been done very well, it could have been done near embassies, consulates or centers that they would define as CECs, or as states where voting could be done, but here the distrust is very high and now the DP is asking for another thing, that Albanians who have EU or US documents and do not have Albanian documents vote. I think that political parties will close these things at the last minute," Lita said, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
