Returning from Fier, Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to his followers on Facebook. In the "Sy m'sy" column, one of the commentators ironically asked Rama to tell Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to get an Italian passport.
In response, the head of government asked him to unite the votes for the SP on May 11 to obtain a European passport in 2030.
"I don't have to tell Meloni about the Italian passport. I don't need yours in return, because I have mine just like yours. But we both have to come together on May 11 and bring Albania into the EU by 2030 and get Albania's European passport. A passport just like Italy, Germany and France. Don't think twice, give me your vote on May 11 and I and the Socialist Party will give you the EU passport," the head of government replied.
Another commentator reminds the prime minister of the promises he made in 2013 when he came to power, from 300,000 jobs to 24-hour water a day. Rama said that the first promise has been exceeded, while the promise of 24-hour water ends in the fourth term.
"When we took office, Albania had 1 million 23 thousand employees, 1 million 327 thousand was their number at the end of 2024. Am I lying now? Look at the insurance book, there are over 300 thousand more than when we took office. We only found 4 urban areas with 24-hour water when we took office. Today we have 48 urban and 98 rural. In the fourth mandate, this old wound will also be closed."
Asked by followers who has prevented Albania from joining the EU in these 12 years, Rama replied:
"The European passport is obtained when a state is formed and it is not done like the comments on Facebook. I warn you that when you get that passport in your hand, you will hardly be able to control yourself for what you think and say today."
To another who said he does not want to join the EU in the conditions Europe finds itself in today, Rama reminded him of Ukraine and its three-year struggle to join the EU. According to him, the EU is salvation from the past.
"If you don't go to Europe, there is only one way back, only to the pit. Are the Ukrainians who have been killing themselves for 3 years because they want to be in Europe with both feet? Why do the Moldovans want to? Where would the Estonians and Lithuanians be today if they weren't in the EU? The EU is salvation from the return of the past, only the EU puts an end to this tragic history of returns."
