The Democratic Party has taken Bardh Spahina into its defense, who was officially indicted by SPAK a few days ago. The Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party, Luçiano Boçi, stated that the summoning of the former mayor of Shkodra to SPAK is the clearest example of the double standard of this institution and its use as a political tool of the government.
"The summoning of the former mayor of Shkodra, a member of the leadership of the DP, to SPAK is the clearest example of the double standard of this institution and its use as a political tool of the government. To explain to the public and the media what Bardh Spahia has done by being summoned to SPAK, is very simple. As mayor, he dismissed from office the Director of the Shkodra Water Supply, a person with a criminal record, for incompetence and sabotage of duty. It should be added here that the Supreme Audit Office has also requested the dismissal of this director for violations. This is SPAK, and these are the flagrant violations of the law that the opposition sees when it denounces it, with facts and evidence. But, the final goal is one: hindering the opposition in the election campaign," said Boçi.
Spahia is accused by SPAK of "obstructing the execution of court decisions", as provided for in Article 320 of the Criminal Code. It is learned that Spahia was reported by citizen Mark Molla, who claims that the former mayor dismissed him from his position as director of the Waterworks, without having the right to do so.
