Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has stated that she was the first to invite former minister Arben Ahmetaj to become a justice collaborator.
Tabaku made the comments on the 'Debat' show with journalist Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, where he said that at the time people were surprised by that invitation, but today, according to her, Ahmetaj is denouncing government scandals.
She also said that in the 12 years of Prime Minister Edi Rama's government, there have been corruption affairs of extraordinary proportions that should be investigated by SPAK.
Tabaku further said that the majority has put pressure on the judiciary and obstructed it in its work, and for this she mentioned the case of the arrest of Erion Veliaj, whose language towards prosecutors, according to her, is not even used by politicians in communist countries.
"We are at a moment when there are prosecutors with integrity, but there are also many question marks on certain issues. The opposition is interested in two things. First, that justice be independent and that there be no political pressure of any kind, and I am sorry to say that recent days have shown that political pressure exists and is present there.
What the mayor of Tirana is doing is a language that does not belong to a politician from communist countries, not a new politician of Albania in 2024. And secondly, what interests the DP and the opposition is that justice goes where the power is. Because in these 12 years we have documented corruption affairs of extraordinary proportions. I did not want to deal with Arben Ahmetaj, because on a personal level I do not want to deal with anyone.
"Ahmetaj was the one who committed the corruption, who brought the company, who made the decisions. Now that Ahmetaj is before the courts, I have made the first invitation to him to become a collaborator of justice. Back then I had hundreds of messages telling me 'how is it possible that you are making this invitation to Ahmetaj'. Today Ahmetaj is denouncing and I hope that he has concrete evidence and facts, since we have denounced some of them," said Tabaku, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
