Sali Berisha is determined to seek removal from the blacklist in the US, where he has been placed since 2021. "I have not started lobbying because it has been a total of 14 days since the new administration began. And I do not believe that in its first days, this problem should be a priority. So I am aware that the administration must be completed, meaning it is a confirmation process that must pass through Congress," Berisha said in a press conference, writes A2 CNN.
"And the confirmation process for officials is not just for secretaries of state, but also for people below their rank. I expect the new administration to be filled and without any question I will address the new administration. The only reason I have not addressed it is this. And I am confident because it is universally understood that it was a political act of George Soros and that the Secretary of State did it without respecting any law of his own country, without any documents in the file, simply with the corrupt lobbying of George Soros."
In May 2021, Sali Berisha and his family were declared "non grata" by the US. In a message on Twitter, now former Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote that Berisha and his family had been officially declared ineligible to enter the US and were therefore barred from entering the country.
"The corrupt acts of former Albanian President Sali Berisha undermine democracy in Albania. I am publicly declaring Sali Berisha and members of his family ineligible for entry into the United States. We continue to stand against corruption together with our partners in Albania," the US Secretary of State wrote.
With Donald Trump coming to power, Democrats are convinced that the decision will be overturned. (A2 Televizion)
