During the meeting in Gjirokastra, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke again about the justice reform, describing it as the most courageous political action in the history of the Albanian state. According to Rama, the Socialist Party decided to give up its influence over the justice system, a power that he described as “extraordinary for politics, but harmful for the people”. He stressed that this is not the result of opposition pressure, but of the independence of new justice institutions such as SPAK and BKH.
"They listened to me when I said that you should vote for me so that I don't keep others in my lap so that we can leave for the EU. That with others in my lap we cannot separate justice from politics. I told them not to listen to the kettle, that they are here for the tray and not for Albania. They were for the tray, there is no discussion, these people say what the tray is in the campaign, that we want a program. What program do you want from the swamp owl, it is enough to see the owl and you have seen the program. We have done what no one has done in the history of the state, we have made the decision to give up an extraordinary power, that of politics over justice. Extraordinary for politics, but harmful for the people. We have taken the sword that I had in my office since 1912, it passed from hand to hand, monarchy, dictatorship, democracy. The sword was in the office of the first, that is why we have the last political prisoner in the time of democracy, Fatos Nano, because "There was an owl with a sword in the office and it fell on the opposition leader. We made the decision to hand over the sword."
Regarding the attacks by the judiciary within the ranks of the SP, Rama said that the opposition wants to seize power with the "hands" of Altin Dumani. According to Rama, the latter previously did not have the power to act due to political influence.
"Do you know Altin Dumani? Do you think Altin Dumani was born in 2020? No. Do you think he graduated from school in 2020? No. He has been a prosecutor for years. A man of integrity, a man who believes in what he does. Why didn't Altin Dumani call a deputy, say, come here, you? Tell me what this job is like. Or some big director. He was there in the Prosecutor's Office. Because he didn't have the power to do this, because the sword was in the hands of politics. They were disarmed. They were tools, not him, but most of them. They did what politics told them, for the interests of politics, then when politics had no interests, they did the scum and the oppression with 17 houses, and with 40 properties that their mother-in-law had given them. The most generous mother-in-laws in the world turned out to be these mother-in-laws. All the money received from corruption. We did it. Now they come out and say how is it possible that these people are asking for votes when they have half of the of the government in prison. We have people under investigation or convicted who were in the government during the first term or we are looking for someone who was my replacement who was not in the government when he fled. We have three terms, over 60 ministers. How many are these? Even 10 if there were, who brought about this situation that even within us justice does what it wants? Did these bring it about? These people think that with the hands of Altin Dumani, with the hands of justice, they will take power, putting me in a difficult position, but not later than this because I have fought for this even when it was struck within us.
He emphasized that this is not a result of opposition pressure, but of the independence of new justice institutions such as SPAK and BKH.
