The Democratic Party is holding primaries this Saturday to select candidates for parliament.
There are 289 candidates in the race, fighting for almost 20 places on the closed lists, and the rest will be listed on the open part, writes A2 CNN.
The strongest competition is expected to be in the Tirana district, where 80 names are competing, while in the Gjirokastër district, the fight is for one place on the open list.

The list of candidates was drafted by the Democratic Party Presidency following proposals and self-nominations by party officials.
Excluded from this competition are the 13 district leaders, the mayor, the general secretary, the president of the National Council, the president of the women's forum, and the head of the Youth Forum.
Voting begins at 08:00 and ends at 18:00, where a member has the right to vote for only one candidate. Voting centers have been set up in all branches of the country, almost 80 of them, where the process will be monitored in each district by its director. (A2 Televizion)
