Albania is emerging from the peak of influenza infections. February begins with a decrease in morbidity from respiratory infections, mainly from influenza A, AH1N1 and AH3N2 subtypes.
The Institute of Public Health reports a decline in the infection curve and the exit from the area with very high intensity of respiratory virus circulation. Health centers and hospitals are reporting one thousand fewer cases than the last week of January, which marked the peak of flu circulation with over 23 thousand cases per week, writes A2 CNN.
Although we have entered a normal flu activity, children and the elderly are the most affected age groups, often with its recurrences or overlapping viruses. Emergency rooms and hospital beds continue to be at maximum capacity due to the aggressiveness of seasonal flu, but also the complications it causes in chronically ill people, up to intubations.
Tirana is the city with the highest flu circulation during this period, followed by Durrës and Gjirokastra. (A2 Televizion)
