Inter follow Napoli step by step at the top of Serie A and do so with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona, thanks to a penalty converted by Kristjan Asllani in the opening minutes of the match.
This was the eighth consecutive home victory over Verona for the Blues, who maintain their positive performance in direct confrontations at "San Siro".
After Napoli's victory earlier in the day that took them six points clear, Inter needed to respond positively. And so they did, when, following a VAR review, Valentini was penalised for a handball in the area. Asllani took the lead to take the penalty and slotted the ball into the net for his first league goal of the season.
After the goal, Inter continued to press, with Zalewski trying from distance but being stopped by goalkeeper Montipò. Verona gradually got into the game and did not allow many dangerous chances from the home team, with Arnautović missing two headers.
In the second half, Inter dominated possession, but the absence of Lautaro and Thuram's stay on the bench affected their attacking efficiency. Verona sought to take advantage in the final minutes, but without success.
The Blues maintain a record of 35 games without defeat at home against Verona, while the latter look to return to victory against Lecce next week. (A2 Televizion)
