Bayern Munich have lost two key players just weeks before their Champions League quarter-final clash with Inter Milan, A2 CNN reports. Canada star Alphonso Davies has suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that will keep him out for several months. The injury occurred during the third-place match in the CONCACAF Nations League against the United States, where Davies was forced to leave early due to a right foot problem.
In addition to Davies' injury, centre-back Dayot Upamecano has also suffered a knee problem. Upamecano played the full 120 minutes in the Nations League quarter-final between France and Croatia, where he played a crucial role and scored the winning penalty in the shootout. However, after returning to Munich, medical tests revealed that he has a problem with the ligaments in his left knee. While the extent of his injury is yet to be determined, the situation adds further concerns for Bayern.
With the championship title almost assured, due to the large gap with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga standings, the Bavarians have turned their attention to the Champions League, the final of which will be played in Munich.
The first leg against Inter will be played at the Allianz Arena on April 8, while the return leg will be at the San Siro on April 16. (A2 Televizion)
