Fenerbahçe coach José Mourinho has been suspended for four matches by the Turkish Football Federation following his offensive statements following Monday's match with Galatasaray.
Mourinho had used an inappropriate phrase during the press conference, where he said that the opponents were "dancing like monkeys", referring to the protest of the Galatasaray bench.
Mourinho was also punished for his comments towards the referees. He went into the referees' room after the match and criticised the Turkish fourth official, saying: "If you were the main referee, it would be a disaster."
His response to referee Vincic was also provocative, where he thanked him for "refereeing the match."
The federation has reacted sharply to these statements and has decided to suspend the Fenerbahçe coach. Meanwhile, the Fenerbahçe club has defended Mourinho and stressed that the clashes with referees and accusations of favoritism towards Galatasaray are part of an ongoing conflict over the refereeing system in Turkish football.
