Alarm siren for the Albanian national team. With Sylvinho's contract expiring at the end of 2025, immediately after the end of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the coach could leave. One of the biggest Brazilian clubs is interested in the 50-year-old's services.
Botafogo has included the red and black coach in the list of potential candidates to take over the bench, starting this year. Sylvinho is one of 12 candidates, among which the former coach of Italy, the champion of Europe in 2020, Roberto Mancini is also among the important names.
Interestingly, Sylvinho was Mancini's assistant at Inter in 2015. Appointed to the Albania bench in January 2023, he led the national team to qualification for Euro 2024. Now that the Nations League campaign has ended and with the World Cup qualifiers starting in March, the coach may be looking for a new adventure.
The return to Brazil is quite tempting for Sylvinho, who previously worked in the Brazilian championship at Corinthians from 2022 to 2023. He led the team for 43 matches, winning 16 of them.
Latin media emphasized that at the moment there is still no official offer. However, Botafogo's leaders have initiated contacts with the red and black coach's staff. According to them, Sylvinho's representatives held a video conference with businessman John Textor, who is also the main shareholder of Botafogo, but also Crystal Palace and Olympique Lyonnais.
According to the newspapers, the American owner believes the conversation was positive for the club's interests. (A2 Televizion)
