Eight teams in the competition. Four of those who dominate this edition of the championship and four others who aim to make a surprise to go as far as possible in the Cup. The second most important trophy in the country will hold its first quarterfinal matches on February 5 and 6.
Partizan plays again with Laçi, Egnatia is challenged by Bylisi, while Elbasan will face Vllaznia. The next match is scheduled for Thursday, between Dinamo and Skënderbeg, who drew 1-1 last weekend.
"It's a day of celebration, as it's the 79th anniversary of Partizani's founding. I feel very proud to be part of the club. But we are focused on the Cup, because we face Laçi again, an excellent and strong team on its field. The first match is half the job. I'm surprised that Partizani has not won this trophy for 20 years. The calendar has been busy and as professionals we only think about the next match, not about Sunday's derby with Tirana", said Edlir Tetova, coach of Egnatia.
"We don't have time to rest, the next match came right away. There's no time for celebration either. It's another competition, we have our objectives. It's a difficult match, because we're playing against an experienced team. Elbasan has invested a lot in this season. It's the first 90 minutes, but we're starting the mission to advance to the next round of the Cup," said Thomas Brdaric, coach of Vllaznia.
The return matches of the Albanian Cup will be played on February 26. In case of a draw, the winner will be determined after extra time and penalties.
