Sad scenes were seen at the Kavaja hospital, where the dead body of the Egnatia footballer, Rafael Dwamena, arrived.
Teammates broke down in tears when they learned the devastating news that Dwamena did not make it.
In a statement to the media, the doctor of the Kavaja hospital, Riza Lala, said that the footballer arrived without signs of life. He underwent all the medical protocol provided for such cases, but it did not work.
Lala insists Dwamena was transported in record time by ambulance after collapsing on the playing field.
"The patient died on the way to the hospital. There were no vital signs. There was no cardiac activity. We had taken all the measures, we were on our feet after being notified. There was no more hope. The ambulance had the right tools. We resuscitated him and followed all protocol. We do not know the cause of death. We were told that he fell on the field, the forensic medicine has the last word. In my opinion, he has been given the right help since the moment. He arrived at the hospital in record time", said the emergency doctor.
The 28-year-old from Ghana was diagnosed with heart problems in 2021 and doctors advised him not to play football again. However, last season, he joined Egnatia of Rrogozhina, where he was one of the best attackers of the Albanian championship.
