Albania is ready to welcome the Giro D'italia, the famous cycling tour that for the first time in history will take place in our country.
180 competitors were presented at a special ceremony in Skanderbeg Square while the eyes of 800 million viewers are expected to be in our country for three days. The teams arrived in Tirana on May 5 and 6, while on Thursday they moved to Durrës to prepare for the start of the competition.
The 108th edition of this tournament will be held in three stages, with the three main points being Durrës, Tirana and Vlora. Athletes coming from every country in the world, from Japan to the nearest countries in Europe, while champions from Slovenia or Belgium will also be present.
A special feature of this edition is that this time, the president of the Albanian Cycling Federation, Skënder Anxhaku, has negotiated with the organizers of this tournament for the national red and black team to hold its own mini-race, one hour before the start of the first stage, and then leave the baton to the greatest cyclists in the world.
