The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has postponed the announcement of this year's Oscar nominations for the second time, due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, organizers said.
Nominations for the film industry's most important awards will be announced on January 23. They were originally scheduled for January 19.
"Due to the still active wildfires in the Los Angeles area, we feel it is necessary to extend our voting period and move the nominations announcement date to allow additional time for our members," the Academy said in a statement.
The Academy also canceled the annual Oscar nominees luncheon, which had been scheduled for Feb. 10. The Academy Awards telecast is still scheduled to take place on March 2. (A2 Televizion)
