"The European Union's unbalanced approach to the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia negatively affected this process."

This position was stated by the members of the European Parliament to the departing envoy, Miroslav Lajcak, according to what Radio Free Europe reports, citing its sources.

Thus, the mediator's farewell meeting with EU lawmakers in the Foreign Policy Committee was extremely bittersweet for him, especially during the evaluation of his 5-year work in normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Sources for Radio Free Europe confirm that the majority of MEPs have criticized the way the EU has approached the parties in the dialogue.

Most lawmakers have opposed the punitive measures imposed by the Union against Kosovo, and on the other hand, Serbia has not had sanctions after the armed attack in Banjska.

MEPs called for the lifting of the measures and a more balanced approach from the EU, something that Lajcak himself agreed with.

The outgoing envoy blamed the leaders of the member states for this. On January 31, Lajcak's mandate ends, while the new envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue will be the Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen. (A2 Televizion)
