Podgorica, 30 January 2025 – The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović, began his tour of the region with a visit to Montenegro, where he met with the country's top officials to discuss strengthening regional cooperation and implementing key projects such as the Regional Common Market and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
During his visit, Kapetanovic was received by the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, the Speaker of the Parliament, Andrija Mandić, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović. The talks focused on issues of strategic importance such as regional economic cooperation, digital transformation, investments, human capital development and security.
“Montenegro plays a key role in shaping regional cooperation and advancing economic and political integration in the Western Balkans. Our discussions confirmed the shared commitment to making regional agendas more concrete and tangible for businesses and citizens. The RCC will continue to support initiatives that strengthen economic growth, regional connectivity and stability,” said RCC Secretary General Amer Kapetanovic.
Montenegrin officials stressed the importance of the RCC's role in accelerating regional integration and harmonization with EU standards. They reiterated Montenegro's commitment to the Regional Common Market and the Green Agenda, as well as the need for closer cooperation on security issues and SEECP (South East European Cooperation Process) priorities.
In addition to meetings with senior state officials, Kapetanovic held a meeting with Johan Sattler, Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, as well as Maja Handjiska Trendafilova, Director of the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA). He also visited the Western Balkans Cyber Capability Center, where he discussed opportunities to increase digital resilience and cybersecurity cooperation in the region.
The visit to Montenegro is just the first stop on Kapetanovic's tour of the region. With this initiative, the RCC aims to strengthen regional partnerships and ensure the continuity of key projects, promoting a more economically and politically integrated region. (A2 Televizion)
