Serbia is frightened by the military agreement signed today between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia. The Foreign Ministry in Belgrade, through a reaction, emphasizes that it will send to Tirana and Zagreb an urgent request for explanations regarding the tripartite pact in the field of defense. It mentions Kosovo with provocative nuances while considering that the exclusion of Serbia from this initiative is worrying.
"We will not ignore the clear political message of this initiative. It is clear that this memorandum is not the result of accidental cooperation, but of a deliberate strategy aimed at isolating Serbia and strengthening paramilitary structures in the southern Serbian province, in violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1244," the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Serbian Foreign Ministry adds that Bulgaria was also invited to that pact, again demanding answers as to who this mini military alliance is directed against.
"In particular, we warn that unilateral arming and military cooperation with illegal structures in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija represents a direct blow to the international legal order and a threat to regional peace. Serbia will not accept this silently," the announcement further states.
Official Belgrade explains that it reads this initiative as a provocation due to the fact that it is being done with Kosovo and not with Serbia, once again bringing to attention the disconnection from the current reality by claiming a different reality on the ground.
The statement concludes with the ultimatum that Serbia expects an urgent response from Albania and Croatia on the real intentions of what it considers a “dangerous military game.” It then threatens that it will not allow any action that endangers its claimed territorial integrity. (A2 Televizion)
