Istanbul – The strategic partnership between the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the United Nations received new impetus during a meeting in Istanbul between the RCC Secretary-General, Amer Kapetanović, and Ivana Živković, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS at UNDP.
The talks focused on strengthening cooperation to address the development challenges and opportunities of the Balkan region within the framework of the SEE2030 Strategy – an ambitious platform that reflects the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Kapetanović highlighted the success of the SEESAC joint initiative and added: “From green transition to gender inclusion and digital transformation, we are building concrete bridges for the future of the region. Harmonization with UNDP is essential to deliver results that are felt by citizens.”
For her part, Živković praised the role of the RCC as a catalyst for cooperation and emphasized that synergy with this organization is the key to sustainable development and long-term peace in the Western Balkans.
The meeting confirmed the shared will to deepen the partnership in key areas such as the Regional Common Market (CRM), the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB) and the preparation of the new strategic phase of the RCC in coordination with UNDP programs. (A2 Televizion)
