Serbia has been paralyzed by massive student protests. Protesters have begun gathering in front of central institutions in Belgrade.
The students have announced that at 4:00 PM there will be two rallies, in front of the Serbian Parliament, but also at Slavija, where there will be a stage, choir and speakers, writes A2 CNN.
With slogans like "Students who want to learn" they have been standing in the Pioneer Park in front of the Serbian Parliament, surrounded by tractors, and it is suspected that new incidents may occur. Danas journalists report that members of the Gendarmerie have been deployed in the center. The protesters deny these claims.
"The regime and the pro-regime media are the ones that talk the most about tension, the president of the state who insistently raises tension, threatens with violence, while on the other hand you have normal people, people and mainly students who insistently demand peaceful demonstrations, peaceful protests and I think that without tension and problems they will not provoke the regime," said Bojan Popovic, a protester.
Meanwhile, the Freedom and Justice Party announced on the social network 'X' that an incident occurred in Zharkov, where a car hit a crowd, injuring several people. All vehicles of the Belgrade City Transport Company have been withdrawn to their garages since Saturday morning, and will not operate during the day.
"Violence does not come from us, violence comes from this government that has been oppressing and destroying us all these years since they came to power. We are on the side of the citizens who have been silent and suffered for years, and now it is time to show that we are in fact the majority of decent people," said Ljubisa, a protester.
Private transport lines have reportedly been out of service since Friday afternoon. Authorities expect between 60,000 and 80,000 protesters to arrive in the capital, President Aleksandar Vučić has said. Organizers say they expect many more, in what is expected to be the largest rallies Serbia has seen in decades.
