Izet Mexhiti, the first deputy prime minister of North Macedonia, in a live connection with the "Off the Record" studio with Andrea Dangli on A2 CNN, stated that the tragedy in which 59 young people lost their lives in the discotheque came as a result of the previous government.

"I think it is a consequence of the previous government, as the Tetovo case did not receive the proper epilogue. Sentences were not given, there were amnesties, and this gave the message that license forgeries and such anomalies can continue. However, we are dealing with this case in all dimensions. The first is the health dimension. We have 59 new victims, 155 injured, of whom 47 have been sent for treatment in other countries," said Mexhiti.

According to him, this tragedy came from mismanagement.

"The facility did not meet the required standards, the license granted in the past was forged. We are investigating and 20 people are before the justice system, starting with the former Minister of Economy," Mexhiti stressed.

"All those who have forged documents will receive the punishment they deserve. Today there was an urgent government meeting and from tomorrow there will be strict controls in all discotheques to check licenses and conditions. Any small deficiency will result in closure and legal liability," Izet Mexhiti further declared.
