A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on Friday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey. It was followed by a second strong 6.4-magnitude aftershock about 12 minutes after the initial quake, according to the USGS.
Strong tremors were also felt in the Thai capital Bangkok, as hundreds of people rushed out of buildings in panic onto the streets.
The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, hit several countries in Southeast Asia: Bangladesh, India, Laos, Thailand
